Art school

Art school

Welcome to art school,
Where we will teach you how to be cool,
How to disobey the rules,
And how to gladly suffer fools
Who rush into your dreadful dreams
And tread not softly on your schemes.

Welcome to art school,
Where you will learn where ideas come from
And how, if necessary, they can be run from
Or how you can try to stop the sun from
Shedding too much light on their naked flesh
Or bake tan lines onto them with mesh.

Welcome to art school,
Where you will be given the tools
To solidify tears and liquidize jewels,
To measure infinity in kilojoules,
And to bend and break the raw ingredients
Of unfounded objections into obedience.

Welcome to art school,
Where the greatest minds that ever thunk
Will impartially impart what’s art, what’s bunk;
Where you can drink in culture until you’re drunk
And then vomit into your portfolio case,
Check your cache and fix your face.

Welcome to art school,
Where you will be groomed for an art career,
Where you will be taught to solidify a tear,
Where you will be encouraged to have an idea,
Where you will be forced to break a rule,
Where you will be qualified to be cool.
