* TMI: In the Men’s Room is proofed and ready to go to the printers at the time of writing (January 2021), and the necessary funds are sequestered. However, the book will be shipped in either early March or mid-April because I foolishly entered two of the poems from the book into competitions in late 2020, before I knew I would be able to publish this book in the first half of 2021. Of course they are extremely unlikely to win, but must remain unpublished until I receive confirmation that they have not won, just in case. I will know by the end of February; so in the (likely) event they are not going to be published by anyone else, I will be free to publish (i.e. to ship books based on pre-orders) in early March. In the (extremely unlikely) event that one of the poems wins or is shortlisted I will have to delay by another month to ensure the competition organizers have first publishing rights for the poem. Thus I find myself in the unusual position of hoping I don’t win; but not quite enough to withdraw the poems from either competition, because I’ve already paid the entry fees, and should either poem succeed I would undoubtedly sell a few more copies of the book on the back of it (and have something to write in a press-release other than “poet you’ve never heard of publishes another book”). A little insight into the glamorous world of poetry publishing for you there.
